Emma Ann West Donache

Haying by hand was a family affair in the old days (circa 1890). On the mule is Levi Herr Donache and his son, John David is standing in front to the far left. John David later married Emma West (pictured at left) and they resided in Rising Sun, MD. John and Emma were the grandparents of Don Ritchie of Rising Sun, who feels the picture was taken in Providence, PA, near the Buck. Emma West Donache was a great aunt to publisher, Carol Belote.
