Brett Spotts of Calvert received the 2009 Department of English and Reading Award for Outstanding Achievement, presented by Professor Dennis Fabella. |
Also part of the Cecil College graduating class was our very own Brett Spotts. He received the 2009 award for outstanding achievement in the Department of English and Reading, presented by Professor Dennis Fabella.
During the presentation, Fabella explained that Brett had taken two courses with him and described Brett's performance in both classes as "absolutely excellent".
Professor Fabella went on to say, "In these courses, I always hope that my students will gain an understanding of, and appreciation for, writing and literary analysis. He certainly accomplished both of these. More than this, he showed an ability to gather knowledge he had gained from outside of these courses and synthesize it with the material we were studying in class, thus creating new insights and displaying intellectual creativity. Most of all, he has impressed me as being someone who generally enjoys learning and his academic interests are varied."
Congratulations Ryan and Brett and the Cecil College Class of 2009!
